a quick couple of updates for anyone keeping score.
for those uninterested... AVERT YOUR EYES!
first and foremost i would like to introduce the adorable "BlurMilkCarton" LJ icon to everyone.
awwww. he is so happy to see you that he has decided to do a little dancing!
despite Jaguar's lamentations my return flight to Detroit has been pushed back from friday night to laaaate saturday. i will, hopefully, be returning to the Great Lakes State sometime early Sunday EST. (dude)
i only got half way through "Game People Play" but after finishing the somewhat arduous "Birth Of Plenty" and receiving a rather sweet parcel from an enchanting young woman, i feel compelled to update / change my summer book list.
orthodox:
Games People Play - Eric Berne
The Birth of Plenty - William Bernstein
The Analects - Confucius
The Abolition of Man - C.S. Lewis
The Screwtape Letters - C.S. Lewis
Sonnets from the Portuguese and Other Poems - Elizabeth Barret Browning
reformed:
The Philosophy Of Law - Jeffrie Murphy
Flags Of Our Fathers - James Bradley
The Things They Carried - Tim O'Brien
An Introduction To Legal Reasoning - Edward Levi
Lowell's Poems - James Lowell
the two law books haven't been much of a " improvement over the dry and over-reaching material of GPP and tBoP but they are still pretty durn cool. a lot of tPoL reads likes a practiced lecture from an intro-to-jurisprudence class but i'd imagine that is as good a place as any to start. if nothing else, it's a whole new world of shit to get geeked over.
Deek just sent me "The Eraser" and "The Avalanche", i am currently absorbing their sound waves directly into my brain. maybe i will post my thoughts on Mr. York's and Mr. Stevens' "albums" at some point in the future. maybe not. thanks again to Mr. Decker.
but that's all for now.
love for my friends. love for my enemies.
